RICHMOND, VA. – The CAA Football conference today announced its weekly honorees and Villanova freshman running back David Avit (Potomac, Md.) was named the league's Rookie of the Week.  

Avit earned the honor for his effort in Saturday's win over LIU when he carried 24 times for 160 yards and a touchdown. The 160 yards were the most by a Wildcat true freshman since 1977. 

After five games this year, Avit has registered 48 rushes for 275 yards (5.7 avg.) and one touchdown.  

Avit and the 4-1 Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, with a road game at Stony Brook. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
