Box Score HAMDEN, Conn. – The Villanova field hockey team fell on the road at Quinnipiac, 2-0, on Friday, October 17.

The opening frame was fairly even, but the Bobcats controlled much of the possession. Both teams were feeling it out, but Quinnipiac was the team able to draw a few shot attempts. The Bobcats had two shots in the first period with one on goal. VU was unable to put a shot on goal in the first period. Freshman Sophie Volkel was able to swat away the only shot she faced.

The second period was a different story. The 'Cats controlled the play and were able to put together a few nice offensive possessions that led to a few shots. Maeve Boston had nice shot on goal for Villanova, but the Bobcats goalie was able to keep it out of the cage. VU drew their first corner in this period, however Gemma Lysaght's shot attempt was just wide. The game went into the break tied at zero.

The Bobcats struck early in the second half, breaking the tie less than three minutes into the third period. About six minutes later, QU was able to double it's lead with another goal to make the score 2-0, in the third frame. Despite trailing, Villanova was able to have many good offensive possessions in the period. The 'Cats earned six penalty corners and tallied four shots on goal, but could not get into the scoring column.

Villanova continued the offensive pressure in the final period. The 'Cats drew four more corners and put up six shots in the final period compared to just one for the Bobcats. VU had more chances into the final fame, but the Bobcats were able to stop every Villanova chance and the 'Cats fell 2-0 on the road.

Coach Milhous added this after the game:
"Doing everything right except scoring goals. We played some really nice hockey. Had some opportunities and just needed to finish them."
