NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference held its annual Media Day on Tuesday afternoon at Madison Square Garden where Villanova was picked to finish fourth in the preseason predicted order of finish with 78 points.
Connecticut was selected to win the conference championship with 100 points and 10 first place votes, while Marquette was second with 85 points. Seton Hall was chosen third with 80 points.
Sophomore guard Jasmine Bascoe (Milton, Ontario) was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST Preseason All-BIG EAST team. As a freshman last year, Bascoe led the Wildcats in scoring with a 16.2 points per game average. She also led Villanova in both assists (145) and steals (66) a season ago. For her efforts last season, Bascoe was a first team All-Conference selection, and she garnered a spot on the league's All-Rookie Team.
Villanova is coming off a 2024-25 season where they went 21-15 overall and 11-7 in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats earned a bid to the WBIT where they advanced to the semifinals.
The Wildcats tip-off the season on Monday, Nov. 3, with a home game versus Lafayette. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
