• Georgetown has won each of its last eight games, all against conference opponents with the last six victories coming in shutouts. The Hoyas are outscoring BIG EAST foes at a 27-2 clip with Creighton and Seton Hall being the only teams to get a goal past them to open conference play back in September. 
• Head coach Dave Nolan's crew is 6-1-1 inside Shaw Field this year with four straight home wins. Their last loss both at home and on the year as a whole was Sept. 14 with a 2-0 result against Saint Mary's. Their last home loss in conference play was Oct. 28, 2021, falling to UConn that day, 1-0.
• The Hoyas own the second-best scoring offense (2.38), shots per game (17.56) in the BIG EAST, placing them at 19th and 14th in the nation, respectively. Their goal differential of 29 is also second in the league and seventh nationally. They've netted 38 goals this season with 27 coming in their last eight games alone. In that stretch, they've found the back of the net at least twice in each of those contests. They've also been clinical at the penalty spot this season, converting nine of their 10 PK attempts. The only unsuccessful one was in a 5-0 win over Butler on Oct. 1.
• Defensively, Georgetown's .800 save percentage is third in the league while its .563 shutout percentage is second, a clip that is 23rd in the nation.
• Villanova is 12-17-3 against Georgetown since 1994, falling in the last 11 meetings. The last win in the series for the 'Cats was on Oct. 19, 2012, taking a 1-0 victory over the thenNo. 11 Hoyas. Each of the last nine contests between the two sides have been shutout wins for Georgetown. The 'Cats are 5-8-2 in Washington, D.C. all-time and have not won there since Sept. 21, 2007.

• Providence dropped its last two games against No. 13 Georgetown (5-0) and No. 20 Xavier (2-0). Before making the trip to Villanova on Saturday, the Friars have one last home game as they host Marquette on Wednesday.
• Head coach Sam Lopes' team is 1-3-1 away from Chapey Field this season with the lone win being a 2-1 showing at Northeastern on Aug. 24. In conference play, they have just one win, a 2-0 victory over Seton Hall on Oct. 4. Since that victory, they have gone 0-2-1.
• The Friars defense has made 3.46 saves per game this season, a number that puts them fourth in the BIG EAST.
• Villanova is 13-18-4 against the Friars dating back to 1984. In recent years, Providence has taken control of the series, winning four of the last seven meetings. The 'Cats have not seen a home win in the series since Sept. 21, 2012, going 0-6 since then when hosting the Friars by a margin of 1-9.

Against The Ranks: Wednesday marks the third contest with a nationally-ranked opponent this year. The 'Cats fell at No. 25 Xavier on Sept. 27, 9-0, and at No. 10 Wake Forest on Aug. 21, 2-0. The last win over a ranked side was a 2-0 victory over No. 25 Butler on Sept. 26, 2013.

Avrie's Breakout Year: Freshman forward Avrie Nelsen has had a stellar debut season, leading in the 'Cats with five goals and a .526 shot of goal percentage, landing 10 of her 19 attempts on frame. She is the first Villanova freshman to score at least five goals in a single season since Chloe O'Neill in 2018. Nelsen has made at least one shot attempt in 11 of 15 games and has been in the opening 11 of 14 contests. Her latest goal against Marquette marked the quickest scored by a Wildcat this season (5:16).

A Little Help: Junior forward Alex Little has provided a team-high five assists this season, making her the first Wildcat to do so since Megan Donnelly in 2023. She is seventh in the conference for assists and 113th nationally. 

UConn 2, Villanova 0 | October 18, 2025 - Storrs, Conn. - Joseph J. Morrone Stadium

After facing a scoreless tie through the first half, Villanova allowed its first goal in three matches on Saturday night, ultimately falling 2-0 to UConn. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Wildcats. UConn needed just a six minute span in the early parts of the second half to take the lead. The Wildcat offense was outshot 19-8, 7-2 for shots on frame. Bella Panaccione and Alex Little both led the team with two attempts each. Hannah Dickinson grabbed five saves in the loss. Villanova's best scoring chance in the opening half came in the 10th minute when Ire Omotayo sent a long cross into the box for a Gabby Koluch header near the penalty spot that was grabbed in the air by UConn's Ava Yamas. Panaccione had a strong chance to open the scoring in the 48th minute with a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that was saved by a diving Yamas at the right post. Both of UConn's goals came off the foot of Se-Hanna Mars, scoring in the 51st and 57th minutes. Hannah Dickinson grabbed five saves in the loss.
