VILLANOVA DOWNS TOWSON IN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL EXHIBITION

Jasmine Bascoe Led the Wildcats With 32 Points

VILLANOVA – In women's basketball exhibition play on Friday evening, the Villanova Wildcats led wire to wire to tally a 79-54 win over the Towson Tigers.

Leading 22-11 after one quarter of play, the Wildcats started the second quarter on a 10-6 run to open-up a 32-17 advantage. The 10 Villanova points included a three-point field goal and a bucket by both sophomore guard Jasmine Bascoe and freshman guard Brooke Bender.

Villanova scored 12 of the final 17 points of the second quarter to take a 44-22 lead into halftime. Bascoe connected on back-to-back triples to start the spurt, before Kylie Watson, Kelsey Joens and MD Ntambue added short jumpers.

After a sluggish third quarter where Towson outscored the Wildcats by an 18-11 margin to make it a 55-40 game after three quarters of play, Villanova opened the fourth quarter on a 10-4 spurt to take a 65-44 lead. Bascoe was dominant in the run, scoring the first eight points on two triples and a driving lay-up

Towson would not get within 18 the rest of the game and Villanova would cruise to the victory.

Bascoe led the Wildcats in the win with a game-high 32 points. She was 11-of-19 from the field and 7-of-10 from three-point range. Bender finished with 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Towson was paced by Zoli Khalil with 13 points and Hannah Dereje who had 10 points.
