VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova men's swimming and diving team earned another victory this season, defeating Rider at home with a final score of 166-132. The Wildcats claimed 10 event wins and recorded 27 top three finishes in the matchup against the Broncs.
The Wildcats opened the meet with a strong performance in the 200 Medley Relay, as the A team of
Cole Gorsuch,
Hugh Boris,
Zach Sutter, and
Max Kunisaki earned a runner-up finish with a time of 1:31.35. The B team of
Max Christensen,
Carter Gray,
Henry Gingrich, and
Gavin Jones followed in fourth place at 1:33.46.
Christensen led the way with a pair of individual victories in the 100 Back (51.23) and 200 IM (1:53.03), along with a third-place finish in the 200 Breast (2:04.73).
Owen Nye claimed the top spot in both the 1000 Free (9:38.81) and the 500 Free (4:40.83). Teammates
Brady Tierney (9:40.38) and
Patrick Casey (9:46.44) followed in second and third place, respectively, in the 1000 Free to secure a sweep for the Wildcats.
Sam Randall also delivered a standout performance, earning wins in the 200 Free (1:40.89) and 100 Free (45.76), while adding a runner-up finish in the 100 Fly (50.28).
Hugh Boris touched the wall first in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:00.29, moving him to second all-time on Villanova's list of top performers. He also finished second in the 100 Breast with a time of 55.71.
Justin Nowicki claimed the 200 Fly with a time of 1:50.42 and added a runner-up finish in the 200 IM.
Michael Anderson finished third in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:53.75.
Max Kunisaki led the 'Cats in the 50 Free with a second-place finish in 21.03, followed closely by
Zach Sutter, who touched third in 21.12.
Nate Warson swept the diving events for the 'Cats, claiming first in both the 1-Meter (319.50) and 3-Meter (343.80).
Chris Jones finished third in each event with scores of 274.35 and 311.55.
The Wildcats continued their strong showing in the 200 Back, with
Quinn O'Mara finishing second in 1:53.51 and
Brian Farrell following in third at 1:54.04.
The Villanova men return to action Nov. 20–22 at the Navy Invite.
