Women's Lacrosse Inks Five Recruits On National Signing Day

Two attackers, pair of defenders and a midfielder sign to the 'Cats on Wednesday

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova women's lacrosse welcomed five signees this week on National Signing Day, head coach Jill Batcheller announced Wednesday. 

Midfielder Abby Beggans, attackers Lilly Davenport and Anna Starr and defenders Sophie Jurgens and Logan May will join the Wildcats for next season's roster and beyond.

"We're thrilled to welcome this talented group to our lacrosse family," Batcheller said. "This signing class embodies everything we value: toughness, teamwork and a relentless love for the game. The future is bright for Villanova lacrosse."

Wellesley High School: Four-year letter winner and starter as a midfielder … Named a USA All-American in 2025 in addition to Boston Herald All-Scholastic and first team all-conference … Scored a career-high eight goals in a game, totaling over 150 goals and 300 draw controls to this point … Also ran cross country for three seasons (three-time conference all-star) and played a year of basketball … Played club for Mass Elite … Member of the academic honor roll from 2022 onward.

Personal: Born 6/24/08 … One of three children of Sara and John (VSB '95) … Has two older brothers who attend Villanova, Jack ('27) and James ('29) … Chose to attend Villanova because "not only do they offer great athletics and academics, the community is unmatched" … Noted the connections she's seen her father and brothers make as a reason for attending VU.

Darien High School: Starter at attack on Darien's nationally ranked team … Helped team to state and county championships in 2025 … Also earned varsity letters in cross country … Member of the National Honors Society … Earned the seal of biliteracy as a Spanish honor society member … Played eight years with the CT Grizzlies club program.

Personal: Born 1/11/08 … Parents are Colleen and Jay … Dad played lacrosse at Virginia … Has a younger brother, Connor … Plans to major in business … Chose Villanova because of the "family-like community, strong alumni network and exceptional academics and athletics."

Milton High School: Has played four years of varsity lacrosse … Three-time state champion … Selected as a USA Lacrosse All-Academic member in 2025 … Has won GHSA Scholar-Athlete award in three different years … Member of the National Honors Society and the Georgia Certificate of Merit for being in the top 10% of her high school class … Played club with top 10 team Eagle Stix 2026 Blue for a decade … Selected to New Balance All-America Game in 2025 and chosen as an IL Women Standout Player in 2023.

Personal: Born 4/16/08 … Daughter of Liz and Mike … Has two siblings, Will and Luke … Plans to major in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience … Chose Villanova because of "the team culture, awesome coaches and a great combination of academics and lacrosse."

Crystal Lake Central: Has earned four varsity letters in lacrosse … Member of the U.S. National Team Development Program, earning an alternate spot for the 2025 U.S. U19 National Team … USA Lacrosse High School All-American in her junior campaign … Three-time first team all-state, all-section and all-conference … Selected as the Northwest Herald's Female High School POY in three years … Has posted more than 270 goals and 650 draws through her junior season …. Also an all-conference honoree in both volleyball and tennis … Member of the National Honor Society and the president of the Spanish honor society.

Personal: Born 12/18/07 … Parents are Brittany and John … Mom swam at Notre Dame from 1995-99 … Has a younger brother, AJ … Grandfather Gary Kline played basketball and football at Princeton … Plans to major in business … Chose to attend Villanova because of "its mix of great academic and competitive athletics, plus its family atmosphere."
