VILLANOVA, Pa.—Two runners from the Villanova men's cross country team are headed to the NCAA Championships after the team and individual selections were revealed in a live online selection show on Saturday evening. Sophomore
Charlie Moore (Brisbane, Australia) and junior
CJ Sullivan (Milton, Mass.) were each announced as individual qualifiers from the Mid-Atlantic Region based on their performances in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday afternoon. This is the 19
th consecutive year that the Wildcats will be represented by either a team berth or individual qualifiers at the cross country national championships.
The top four individual finishers at each of nine regional meets around the country whose teams do not qualify for the NCAA Championships are automatic qualifiers for the national meet. Moore fit that bill after he tallied a seventh place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional. The Villanova sophomore who only began his collegiate career with the 2025 outdoor track & field season has consistently been one of the Wildcats top performers in his rookie cross country season. Moore was a first team All-BIG EAST performer last month and was one of four Villanova runners who earned Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors in Friday's meet. He covered the 10,000 meter Goodman Campus Course at Lehigh in 29:37.9.
Sullivan was the Wildcats second runner across the finish line at the regional meet and posted a time of 29:52.3. He came in 10
th overall and secured one of only two at-large individual qualifying spots for the national championships. The opportunity to race at the NCAA Championships for the second straight year is well-earned. Sullivan finished three spots higher at the regional meet than he did as a redshirt freshman last year and was previously a second team All-BIG EAST honoree with a 13
th place finish at the conference championships last month. He moved up five spots at the conference meet compared to last season.
The 2025 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships take place on Saturday, November 22 at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. The men's race is scheduled for 10:10 a.m. Central time (11:10 a.m. Eastern) and follows the earlier women's race which begins at 9:20 a.m. Central time. Villanova earned an at-large team selection to the NCAA Championships on the women's side and will be making its 33
rd national appearance in cross country. Next weekend's national championships will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
Villanova finished third in the team standings at both the BIG EAST Championships and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, the latter result putting a young Wildcats team on the cusp of having earned a team berth to the NCAA Championships. The team had five All-BIG EAST performers and four Mid-Atlantic All-Region selections.
