Annapolis, Md. – Villanova swimming and diving wrapped up the Navy Invite with a dominant showing, earning a women's team victory, a third-place finish on the men's side and 4,253 total points to place third overall.
Two program records were set on the final day. In the 200 Breast,
Hugh Boris broke the Villanova record twice, first in prelims and again in finals, lowering it to 1:59.66. In the 200 Fly,
Justin Nowicki set a new school record with a time of 1:46.43 in the finals.
The Wildcats recorded a strong relay performance in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay, where the A team of
Sam Randall,
Gavin Peck,
Gavin Jones and
Zach Sutter placed seventh in 3:00.22, the third-fastest time in program history.
Villanova placed five swimmers in the top seven of the women's 200 Fly.
Anna Farley finished second in 1:58.33, followed by
Katie White in third (2:00.67),
Meghan Tiernan in fourth (2:00.87),
Anna Kilponen in sixth (2:01.55) and
Annie Mee in seventh (2:02.91).
In the women's 200 Breast,
Emily Herr finished fifth in 2:16.25, a time that ranks eighth on Villanova's all-time list.
Annie Honkamp was seventh in 2:18.56, and
Kathryn Montefusco placed eighth in 2:19.48, while
Winnie Jalet finished 11th.
In the men's 200 Breast,
Carter Gray placed 10th in 2:02.05 and
Max Christensen finished 14th in 2:04.19.
Michael Anderson placed 13th in the men's 200 Fly in 1:49.95.h in 2:16.53.
Carlota Colomer Guasch raced to second in the 100 Free in 50.10, moving to sixth on Villanova's all-time performers list, while
Alyssa McHale finished eighth in 51.22. On the men's side,
Sam Randall placed 13th in 44.92, and
Zach Sutter added a 16th-place finish in 45.28.
In the men's 200 Back,
Josh Seidman placed 14th in 1:49.80, followed by
Brian Farrell in 15th (1:50.69) and
Quinn O'Mara in 16th (1:51.04).
The women placed three in the top four of the 200 Back, with
Alana Leen taking second in 1:58.63,
Imogen Duffy finishing third in 2:00.66 and
Arabella Lee placing fourth in 2:00.67.
Villanova swimmers who qualify will return to competition Dec. 13 at the Collegiate 5K National Championship, and the women will host Richmond at home on Jan. 16.
