Borkowski Earn Co-Offensive Player Of The Year and First Team Honors, Lysaght Earns All-BIG EAST Second Team

Borkowski Shares BIG EAST Offensive Player Of The Year With Two Others

NEW YORK — Graduate student Ava Borkowski has been named Co-Offensive BIG EAST Player of the Year, the conference announced Thursday (Nov. 6). Borkowski also earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team, while junior Gemma Lysaght was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team for the second consecutive season.

This marks Borkowski's first career Player of the Year honor and her second appearance on the All-BIG EAST First Team after being recognized on the Second Team a season ago. Lysaght's selection is the second All-Conference honor of her career, highlighting her continued consistency and impact on both ends of the field.

Together, Borkowski and Lysaght were instrumental in leading the Wildcats to a BIG EAST Tournament berth, anchoring Villanova's success throughout the regular season.

Borkowski, a graduate student from Conshohocken, Pa., led the Wildcats with eight goals and 16 points during the regular season. In BIG EAST play, she ranked among the top five in the conference with five goals and 10 points, and her 0.71 goals per game in conference action ranked second overall. She recorded two multi-goal performances, the most on the team, and averaged nearly half a goal per game across the season. Her consistent offensive production earned her the conferences Co-Offensive Player of the Year recognition.

Lysaght, a junior defender from Christchurch, New Zealand, anchored the Villanova back line that posted four shutouts this season. A key presence on both defense and attack, she contributed two goals, four assists, and eight points, while playing a crucial role in the Wildcats' penalty corner units.
