LEXINGTON, Ky. – Villanova volleyball picked up a pair of All-Region honors on Tuesday morning from the American Volleyball Coaches Association as junior hitter Abby Harrell earned an accolade on the East Coast team and sophomore middle Campbell McKinnon was designated an honorable mention recipient.
The two become just the ninth and 10th Wildcats ever to be named on the AVCA All-Region lists, following a season where both were selected as unanimous All-BIG EAST.
Harrell's East Coast All-Region nod is just the seventh time ever and first since 2015 that a Villanovan has been named to the top AVCA All-Region team.
The former BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, Harrell earned her third straight all-conference honor after leading the team in kills, digs and service aces. Harrell posted the first 400-kill season at VU since 2015, reaching 1,000 career kills in her junior year with a team-high in terminations in 22 different matches.
Harrell ranked fourth in the BIG EAST for kills in the regular season and 10th for digs (one of just two hitters in the top 10), totaling a team-best 17 double-doubles with 15-plus digs on six occasions.
McKinnon's honorable mention accolade is the first for Villanova since Kiera Booth in 2023. The Tennessee native put forth Villanova's best hitting percentage season ever from a middle blocker, hitting .379 with 270 kills to rank second on the squad.
The 5-foot-10 middle had double-digit kills in 15 matches and led the team in blocks on 14 occasions, totaling 106 rejections on the year. McKinnon was also second on the team in service aces (36), earning her way to Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week nods during her sophomore campaign.
