Licata Named to 2025 Tewaaraton Award Watch List

A Wildcat has been named to the Watch List for 10 consecutive years

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Graduate attackman Matt Licata has been named to the Tewaaraton Award 2025 Men's Watch list.

This is the 10th year in a row that a Wildcat Men's Lacrosse player has been added to the Watch List, and Licata is the 19th nominee under head coach Mike Corrado. Former Wildcats Reid Colwell and Stephen Zupicich received the honor last season.

Licata was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team ahead of his fifth season at Villanova. His career marks include 66 goals and 36 assists, highlighted by a 36-goal season in 2024, which got him an All-BIG EAST First Team nod.

During the season, there will be two rounds of additions to the watch list, which will give opportunities for more Wildcats to join the battle for the award. 25 nominees from both the men's and women's sides will be announced close to the end of the season, and later narrowed down to five finalists. The ceremony to announce the winner of the 2025 Tewaaraton Award will take place after the conclusion of the season.

ABOUT THE TEWAARATON FOUNDATION
Founded at the University Club of Washington, DC and first presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and U.S. Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse's centuries-old roots in Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity and advances the mission of this award. Each year, the Tewaaraton Award celebrates one of the six nations of the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois Confederacy – the Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora – and presents two scholarships to students of Native American descent.
