NEW YORK – After recording his first career win and limiting his opponents to 8.5 goals against average across two games during the past week,
Denis Fargione was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The Garden City, N.Y., native held opponents to an to an average of 8.5 goals across two games during the past week and saved 20 shots across the two contests.
Fargione recorded his first career win in the Wildcats 9-6 victory over Drexel, while saving 11 shots and picking up four ground balls. He faced 38 shots and only let in six goals.
Against Penn, the freshman faced his first ranked opponent in the No. 18 Quakers. He saved nine shots and scooped up four ground balls, also causing a turnover. Fargione held the Quakers to five second-half goals while the Wildcats attempted a comeback.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats complete their two-game road trip as they will take on Saint Joseph's on Saturday, March 15, at Sweeney Field. This will be their final of three consecutive matchups against the rest of the Philly 4.
