VILLANOVA SELECTED TO PLAY IN THE WBIT

The Wildcats Will Host Boston College on Thursday Night

INDIANAPOLIS -- On Sunday night, Villanova learned that it was chosen to play in the 2025 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). The Wildcats were awarded a four-seed and will host Boston College on Thursday, March 20, at the Finneran Pavilion. With a win in round one, Villanova would face either Saint Joseph's or UAlbany in the second round on Sunday, March 23.

Boston College enters play on Thursday with a 16-17 overall record and a 6-12 mark in ACC play. In the ACC Tournament, the Eagles defeated Syracuse in the first round (76-73), before falling to North Carolina in round two (78-71). The first three rounds of the WBIT will be played at campus sites of the higher seeded team. The final four teams will advance to Hinkle Fieldhouse on the campus of Butler University for the semifinals on Monday, March 31. The WBIT will conclude with the championship game on Wednesday, April 2. Villanova will be making its 21st postseason appearance in the last 24 years. The stretch includes eight berths in the NCAA Tournament, 11 WNIT appearances and two WBIT invites.

The Wildcats enter postseason play with an 18-14 overall record. Villanova went 11-7 in BIG EAST play during the regular season which was good enough for fifth-place finish in the final league standings. In the team's last outing on March 9, the Wildcats lost to Connecticut in the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament. Villanova is led by freshman guard Jasmine Bascoe who is averaging 16.1 points per game. Bascoe also leads the Wildcats in assists with 123 and steals with 58 and she is second on the team in rebounding at 4.5 per game. For her efforts this past season, Bascoe was named first team All-BIG EAST. Sophomore guard Maddie Webber, who earned second team All-BIG EAST honors, ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per contest. She also leads the team in three-point field goals made with 53.
