NEW YORK – Denis Fargione,
Colin Michener, and
Beau Kemler earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards for their performances on Monday, March 17, in Villanova's 16-9 victory over Brown, the conference announced Monday.
Fargione received his second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week nod of the year, as he saved 19 shots backed by a .679% save percentage, placing him fifth in program history for saves in a single game. He also blanked the Bears in the first half while lowering his GAA to .982 on the season.
The freshman ranks first in the BIG EAST in save percentage at .557% and second in saves per game at 11.33. Fargione was also named to the USA Lacrosse Midseason All-Freshman team as an honorable mention on Friday.
Colin Michener was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after tying his career high and setting a season-high mark with four goals, going on two separate 2-0 runs to extend the Wildcat lead and keep the game out of reach.
He scored his fifth man-up goal in his last three games, and all eight shots he took were on goal.
This is his second career weekly award, as he earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on March 18, 2024, after a hat trick, including a game-winning goal against Monmouth.
Beau Kemler set a career high in caused turnovers in Villanova's Saint Patrick's Day win, forcing three. He also matched his career best with five ground balls, earning him a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
After playing in just three games as a freshman, Kemler has become a mainstay in the Wildcats' starting lineup, being only one of two true underclassmen to start all eight games, and is tied for the team lead in ground balls (22), and ranks second in caused turnovers (8).
