BETHLEHEM, Pa.—Freshman thrower
Joe D'Adamo (Nanuet, N.Y.) tallied his best mark of the season in the hammer throw at the Carol and John Covert Classic on Friday afternoon. D'Adamo, who ranks sixth in the BIG EAST this season, threw 47.79 meters on the last of his six attempts to finish fifth out of 29 competitors.
Villanova had three athletes in competition in the hammer. D'Adamo started the day off strong with a mark of 47.33 meters on his first throw. He carried that into the final round and twice improved on the mark, first with a throw of 47.63 meters on his fifth attempt and then with his best measurement of the day on his final throw. D'Adamo is enjoying a strong collegiate rookie campaign and is able to draw on having experience in the hammer in high school.
Sophomore
Jonathan Evans (Springfield, Va.) also had a personal best on Friday as he threw 39.37 meters on his first of three attempts. Junior
Liam Anderson (Lebanon, N.J.) had a mark of 37.12 meters for the day.
