Men's Lacrosse Brings Home Three BIG EAST Weekly Awards

Beau Kemler, Denis Fargione, and Colin Michener each received their third weekly honors of the season

NEW YORK – For the third consecutive week, three Men's Lacrosse players have earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards, the conference announced Monday.

Beau Kemler, Denis Fargione, and Colin Michener were recognized by the BIG EAST for their performances in Villanova's 11-8 win over the Providence Friars, moving them to 2-0 in conference play.

Kemler was honored with his second Defensive Player of the Week award and third weekly honor in a row, thanks to forcing four turnovers and scooping up seven ground balls against Providence. Kemler has caused 10 caused turnovers and picked up 22 ground balls during Villanova's three-game winning streak. He leads Villanova in both statistics with 15 CTOs and 39 GBs on the season and ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in both as well.

Fargione notched his third Freshman of the Week nod of the season after holding Providence to eight goals and snagging 10 saves in the Wildcats' win. He allowed less than 10 goals for the third consecutive game and the fourth time this season. Fargione leads the conference in save percentage at .548% and is 17th nationally with a GAA of 9.44.

Colin Michener starred at attack for the Villanova offense in Saturday's victory, earning BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third consecutive week. He tallied four or more points for the third game in a row. He scored four goals against Providence, including two over the span of seven seconds in the third quarter. Michener has scored 13 of his 19 goals on the season over his four-game multi-goal streak and has tallied at least three points in each of them.
