VILLANOVA, Pa. -
Eric Dixon has agreed to a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in the aftermath of the 2025 National Basketball Association Draft, according to multiple reports.
The news was first reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.
The Willow Grove, Pa., native (Abington High School) led the nation in scoring with 23.2 points per game in his final season of eligibility in 2024-25 for the Wildcats. The forward was a third team All-American choice of the United States Basketball Writers Association and the Associated Press.
On April 1 he moved past Kerry Kittles into first place on the Wildcats' all-time points list at the College Basketball Crown Tournament in Las Vegas. He finished with 2,314 points in his time at Villanova, which began as a redshirt in 2019-20. He was a starter on the Wildcats 2021-22 NCAA Final Four unit, playing for head coach Jay Wright.
Reports indicate Dixon agreed to a two-way deal with the Lakers. Former Wildcat teammates Collin Gillepsie (Denver) and Jermaine Samuels (Houston) began their NBA careers on similar agreements. Gillespie appeared in 33 games and averaged 5.9 points per outing in 2024-25 for the Phoenix Suns.
