VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova softball was not done adding to its roster for the coming season until this week as on Monday, head coach Bridget Orchard announced the signing of incoming freshman Maggie King.
King joins Jacquelyn Cox, Aubrey Police, Katie Reed and Carly Zych as newcomers to the Wildcats, forming a five-member freshman class that will join the program in the fall.
"We are thrilled to welcome Maggie and her family to the Villanova softball family! She is a perfect fit both on and off the field," Orchard said. "We can't wait to get started with her this fall!"

Winston Churchill High School: Three-time Region Player of the Year as a four-year varsity pitcher … Earned County Player of the Year in addition to Washington Post All-Met First Team as a junior and senior … Selected to the All-Region First Team and All-County Second Team as a freshman … Accrued over 700 strikeouts to set the all-time school record while recording over 100 hits at the plate .. Struck out 254 batters during her senior campaign … Managed an 0.70 ERA as a sophomore in 2023 … Also played two years of varsity basketball as a forward.
Personal: Born 3/12/07 … Only child of Melissa and Billy King … Dad played baseball and football at Duke University in the 1970s, playing as an outfielder on the diamond and a linebacker on the gridiron … Chose to attend Villanova because "I knew it would be a place where I can thrive and grow both academically and athletically" … Plans to major in political science.
