Villanova-Rider Men's Soccer Game to Resume Friday at 4 p.m.

Play was suspended with Wildcats leading 2-0 Thursday afternoon

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova Men's Soccer match against Rider, which was suspended Thursday afternoon in the 18th minute due to an active shooter alert on Villanova's West Campus, will resume Friday at 4 p.m.

Villanova held a 2-0 lead when play was suspended at approximately 4:35 p.m. Thursday. At that point 17:49 of the scheduled 90 minutes had been played.

The campus-wide alert was rescinded after 6 p.m. It was determined by law enforcement authorities that no active shooter was present and no injuries were sustained.

The first Wildcats goal was scored by West Virginia transfer Sam Nyenka after a scramble in front of the Bronc net. Graduate student Michael teDuits was credited with the assist.

Freshman Fynn Lahrsen later converted a penalty kick for the Wildcats after Rider was whistled for a handball inside its own 18-yard box.

This contest is the regular season opener for both sides.
