VILLANOVA, Pa. – One week after announcing a non-conference home and home series with Pittsburgh, Villanova today announced a second home and home series, this one with the University of Michigan. The Wildcats and Wolverines will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Crisler Center with Michigan to return the game in 2026-27.
William B. Finneran Head Coach
Kevin Willard is set to lead the Wildcats for the first time in 2025-26. Willard brings 18 years of head coaching experience to Villanova and led Maryland to 27 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 a season ago.
"These kinds of tests against programs the caliber of Michigan are invaluable as we prepare for Big East play," stated Willard. "We're excited to bring Villanova into a challenging road environment against a well-coached and skilled Michigan team."
The Wolverines and Wildcats have met on the grand stage of the NCAA Tournament twice in the past decade, most notably in the 2018 NCAA Final, won by Villanova 79-62 in San Antonio. In 2022, Villanova knocked off Michigan 63-55, also in San Antonio, in an NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 matchup on route to the 2022 NCAA Final Four.
This will be Villanova's first visit to the Crisler Center. Five of the six meetings between the schools have taken place on neutral courts. The only on campus clash between the schools came in 2018-19, when the Wolverines posted a 73-46 win in the second game played inside the redesigned Finneran Pavilion.
Michigan is led by second year head coach Dustin May, who guided the Wolverines to a 27-10 mark in 2024-25 that included a trip to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
The complete Villanova 2025-26 regular season scheduled will be revealed in mid-September in conjunction with the announcement of the BIG EAST Conference schedule.
