Looking to get back on track after a loss at Princeton on Thursday, Villanova closes its nonconference slate with a short trip into Philadelphia to take on Penn at Rhodes Field.

Villanova (4-3) saw its four-game shutout win streak come to an end in New Jersey on Thursday, allowing its first goal in 462:40 minutes of play between August 21 and September 11. With one game remaining before BIG EAST play begins next weekend, a win on Sunday would give Villanova its first season of at least five wins in nonconference play since the 2021 seasoon when the the Wildcats took a 6-2 record into the conference slate. The team's four wins this season already make a program-best under Samar Azem.

Sunday will be the second match against an Ivy League opponent in as many games, a league Villanova is 31-23-9 against all-time. This season, the 'Cats are 1-1 against Ivy teams.

The trip to Philly brings a tall test against a Penn (4-0-2) squad that has yet to see a loss this season, outscoring opponents 12-4 this season. It has been 323 days since the Quakers last faced a loss, falling to Harvard 1-0 on October 26, 2024. Penn has defended its home pitch to the tune of a 3-0-1 record, allowing just one goal that came in the first 17 seconds of their most recent win over Saint Joseph's on Thursday night. The Quakers went on to score two unanswered goals in that one with the game-winner coming from Adamsky in the 80th minute.
