Villanova returns to the Finneran Pavilion on Sunday afternoon to host the Butler Bulldogs. The Wildcats enter play with a 14-4 overall record and a 7-2 BIG EAST mark, while Butler is 8-10 on the year and 2-6 in league play. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
Wildcat head coach
Denise Dillon has had a great deal of success versus Butler throughout her career. Dillon is currently 10-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, including 9-1 as the Villanova head coach and 1-0 when she was the head coach at Drexel.
Despite the loss at Connecticut on Thursday night, the Wildcats enter play on Sunday versus Butler having won 12 of the last 14 games. Villanova had won 10 in a row before losing at Marquette on Jan. 4. The Wildcats rebounded to register back-to-back victories over Xavier and Providence, before falling at Connecticut.
The Wildcats are led in scoring by sophomore guard
Jasmine Bascoe who is averaging 16.9 points per game. Bascoe has six 20-point games to her credit this season and 14 for her career. She has reached double figures in 16 of the 18 games this year and in 45 of 52 career games.Â
Junior forward
Brynn McCurry was inserted into the starting line-up at JMU on Nov. 16 and the Wildcats have gone 12-2 in the 14 games she has started. In the 14 contests, McCurry has scored 200 points (14.2 ppg. during the stretch) on 74-of-133 shooting (.556) to go with 84 rebounds and 49 assists. McCurry currently ranks second on the team in scoring at 12.1 points per game and she leads the way in rebounding at 5.7 per game.
Following Sunday's game against Butler, Villanova will be off until Saturday, Jan. 24, when the Wildcats travel to St. John's.
