Wildcats Open New Year at Florida State, North Florida

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova swimming and diving is set to take on the No. 12 ranked Florida State Jan. 6 at 2 p.m., followed by the University of North Florida Jan. 7 and 4 p.m. These meets will be the first of the new year for the Wildcats.

Last season, both the men and women fell to Florida State. The No. 22 ranked Seminole men defeated the Wildcats, 249–51, while the No. 25 Seminole women earned a 232–68 victory over Villanova.

Alana Leen finished third in the 100 Back with a time of 58.01 and added a second place showing in the 200 Back, clocking 2:01.52. Owen Nye grabbed second in the 1000 Free, touching in at 9:42.77.

This marks the first meeting between Villanova and the University of North Florida. Swimmers from both programs competed at the CSCAA Open Water Championship 5K Swim on Dec.13, where the Wildcats posted a runner-up team finish in 2:56:32, while the Ospreys placed 24th with a time of 3:12:15.

The women return home for back-to-back meets, hosting Richmond on Jan. 16 and James Madison on Jan. 17.
