VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova Wildcats (12-3 overall, 3-1 BIG EAST) jump right back into action Saturday afternoon when they visit Marquette (6-10 overall, 1-4 BIG EAST) Saturday at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Tipoff is set for just after 2:30 p.m. eastern time.
Â
This contest airs nationally on TNT and TruTV with Brian Anderson, Grant Hill, and Andy Katz set to describe the action. Ryan Fannon and
Whitey Rigsby have the audio call on the Villanova Sports Radio Network (Fox Sports Radio Philadelphia, IHeart app, Sirius XM channel 392 and the Tunein app).
Â
The Wildcats will be familiar with the surroundings at Fiserv Forum. On Dec. 19, they registered a 76-66 overtime victory over Wisconsin in the building at the Milwaukee Hoops Showdown.
Â
Villanova hopes to rebound from a difficult second half Wednesday night at Finneran Pavilion. Creighton connected on .667 of its second half field goal attempts to rally from a 34-30 halftime deficit to a 76-72 win over the 'Cats. It was only the second time this season that an opponent converted 50 percent or more of its field goal attempts against Nova (Queens, .574).
Â
"Talking about the defense, I take accountability for some of that," said Villanova center
Duke Brennan, who ended the night with 16 points and 12 rebounds. "Me being a senior, I need to adjust some of my ball screen coverages on different teams as we play. I don't think I did a great job of it. I think I can help our defense if I'm in better position."
Â
The Bluejays did some of the damage with 13 offensive rebounds.
Â
"It's always physical in the Big East," noted Brennan. "We understand that any day these teams can come beat you on your home court. We've got to be ready every single day."
Â
The Wildcats watched film and practiced Thursday in the Davis Center. There is another practice slated for Friday morning followed by an afternoon charter flight from Philadelphia International Airport to Milwaukee.
Â
The Golden Eagles picked up their first BIG EAST win on Wednesday night, downing Xavier 66-65.
Â
The Wildcats snapped an eight-losing skid to Marquette in their last matchup on Feb. 21, 2025, at the Wells Fargo Center with an 81-66 victory. Villanova has dropped its last five games to Marquette at Fiserv Forum, including an 87-74 loss there last January. The Golden Eagles have averaged 79.6 ppg in those meetings.
Â
Following Saturday's game, Villanova is scheduled to return to Philadelphia. It will then turn its focus to a Tuesday night clash at Providence (FS1, 6:30 p.m.). It's next home game comes on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. when St. John's makes the drive south to face the 'Cats at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
