NEW YORK — For the second straight week, Villanova field hockey had two players selected for BIG EAST Weekly Awards. Forward Colleen Finnan and Goalkeeper Maddi Sears both landed spots on the Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Tuesday. 

The two nominations move the 'Cats to eight total BIG EAST Weekly Award selections this season. Finnan and Sears mark the 21st pair of Wildcats to be selected to the Weekly Honor Roll in the same week. The most recent pair was last week, when Molly Zimmerman and Ava Borkowski were selected after the team beat Temple, 4-1. 

For Sears, the nomination marked her fifth career appearance on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, but her first of the season. During the weekend, Sears played a huge role in both games in which the 'Cats went 1-1. On Friday, she played every minute of the action in the 3-1 win against the Hoyas. She collected five saves on six shots for an .833 save percentage en route to her seventh win of the season.  On Sunday, Sears kept VU in the contest with seven saves and a .778 save percentage as the team fell to Penn. 

The senior goalkeeper exits the weekend with a combined 12 saves and an .805 save percentage across the two games. Both numbers move her season totals to 48 saves and her season save percentage to .814, good for best in the BIG EAST. 

As for Finnan, the selection marks the first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nod of the season and for her career. The award comes following a key performance by the forward in VU's win over Georgetown, 3-1. Finnan got the action going, scoring the first goal of the contest from a find by Adie Minnella that the senior blasted into the goal. The early goal helped to spark Villanova's offense, which proceeded to rattle off two additional goals for its second consecutive BIG EAST win. 

The goal marked Finnan's fifth of the season as well as moving her season point total to 12. Both her goal and points total rank as the third-best on Villanova, while she ranks tied for 10th in goals in the BIG EAST and tied 12th in the conference for points. 

Finnan and Sears, along with the entire Villanova field hockey team, will continue BIG EAST play as the team travels to Old Dominion on Friday, October 8, at 1 p.m. before hosting Hofstra on Sunday, October 11, at 12 p.m. for the team's senior day.
