Tale of the Unbeaten Tape: Villanova has gone unbeaten through the first 11 games of the season for just the third time since 2006. The 2007 team didn't face its first loss until the 12th match of the season after a 7-0-4 start, falling to No. 24 Marquette 1-0 on Oct. 5, 2007. The 2006 team made it through the first 15 matches of its season with a 13-0-2 standing before falling to West Virginia 1-0 on Oct. 13, 2006.

Secretary of Defense: Graduate goalkeeper Hannah Dickinson has anchored Villanova's backline to 20 shutouts in her three seasons on the Main Line, six of those this year as solo shutouts. She is now fourth in program history for career shutouts, surpassing Lynn McHale who had 17 from 1984-87. She is two away from tying Janel Schillig (1998-01) with 22.

BIG EAST Battles: Since joining the league in 1995, Villanova is 110-143-38 against the BIG EAST. With Azem at the helm, the 'Cats have gone 13-20-10 against conference foes.

• Much like Villanova, Xavier also comes into the week unbeaten in conference action, sitting 2-0-1in league play. The Musketeers are second in the BIG EAST standings with seven points, two points behind the Wildcats. Among league teams in the RPI, Xavier leads the way at 19th.
• The Musketeers are on a seven-game unbeaten streak since falling to then-No. 3/2 Vanderbilt. 4-1, back on Sept. 6. They are 6-0-1 since then, outscoring their opponents 18-5 in that span. All-told this season, they've scored at least a goal in every game except for a 2-0 loss to Michigan State to open the year. Their two losses have both come in road games, winning their other three road matches by a 4-3 margin.
• Peyton Kohls and Frances Reuland lead the team with 12 points each this season. Kohls has scored four goals with four assists while Reuland has three goals and six assists, a number that leads the BIG EAST and is 30th in the nation. Brooklyn O'Brien has the most goals this year with five, good enough for fourth in the BIG EAST.
• Wednesday is the 14th meeting between Villanova and Xavier since 2013 with Villanova trailing 4-9. The 'Cats have dropped six straight in the series, also being held without a goal in that span. The last time Villanova scored in the series was Sept. 29, 2019 when the 'Cats won on the Main Line, 1-0.
• Sami Lipcon has been the primary goalkeeper for Xavier this season with a 6-1-1 record in her eight games and seven starts. She has logged three solo shutouts with eight goals allowed and 18 saves.

• The Friars have gone over a month without a win since the took down Stonehill 2-1 on August 27. Since then, the team has gone 0-2-4 and will host Georgetown on Wednesday before the Wildcats come to town. Before this week, Providence has been unbeaten at home, going 2-0-3 inside Chapey Field.
• Providence leads the league with 16.64 shots per game heading into the week, a number that places it at 34th in the nation. Jocy Koffi leads the team with 3.55 shots per game and 2.00 shots on goal per game. She leads the league in both of those stats and is 46th and 26th, nationally. She has totaled 13 points on six goals and one assist.
• Three Friars have shared time in net this season with Maria Ravotti starting in all six of her appearances for a 1-0-2 showing. Caitlin Daley has been the keeper of record the most for Providence this season, sitting at 1-1-5 with a 0.93 GAA and .829 save percentage in her 11 appearances and two starts. Along with Ava Ripanti who is 0-1-0 in her four appearances, the trio have allowed 15 goals while making 40 saves and combining for two shutouts.
• Saturday brings the 37th all-time meeting between Villanova and Providence. The Wildcats are looking for their first win in the series since a 1-0 victory at Providence on Oct. 27, 2019.

Villanova 1, Georgetown 0 | October 3, 2026 - Villanova, Pa. - Higgins Soccer Complex

Villanova snapped a 12-match losing streak against Georgetown to keep its unbeaten streak alive through the first 11 games of the year, picking up its eighth shutout of the season. Villanova set the tone early with a gritty goal in the 12th minute. After a Wildcat throw in that bopped around midfield, Gabby Koluch got a foot on the ball to help the ball ahead to Dez Zapata who put on the speed boosters to roll past a pair of Hoya defenders. She was able to run down the ball in the penalty area as she went near the six-yard box to pass the ball across the mouth of the goal to Avrie Nelsen who was running in to let the ball play off her foot and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Georgetown pepped on chances through the rest of the half. One of its best looks came in the 21 minute when Caroline Spengler played a ball across the box to Jocelyn Lohmeyer who immediately sent a chance toward the crossbar before it was knocked away. Kaydee Amorosa lined up for a set piece for the 'Cats in the 53rd minute, but her free kick bounced into the box and into the arms of Fitzpatrick, keeping the lead at one goal. Shortly after, Spengler played a danger opposite angle chance in well out from the right side of the 18 yard box that went over Dickinson's outstretched hand to hit off the inner left post but hit shy of the goal line to stay in play before being cleared away. Villanova was outshot for the first time this season, trailing the Hoyas 13-8 in shots. Nelsen and Spengler led their teams with three shots each while two of Nelsen's looks landed on goal.
