NEW YORK — Villanova field hockey graduate student Ava Borkowski has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Tuesday.

The honor marks the fifth nomination to the Honor Roll in Borkowski's career and the third this season. The first came following the her four goal and eight-point performance against Queens University of Charlotte earlier this season. She followed that two weeks later with her second nomination after a goal against Temple en route to a 4-1 win.

Borkowski continued her stellar season against No. 12 Liberty, in which she tallied her 12th goal of the season in a 2-1 contest for the 'Cats. Borkowski's goal came late in the first quarter after a strong drive from Erin Mitchell. Mitchell found the cutting forward, and Borkowski didn't miss her chance and put VU up 1-0. The goal pushed the graduate student's point total to 26 on the season, a new career best.

Additionally, the goal by Borkowski played a huge role in helping Villanova clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for the second straight season. In last year's tournament, Borkowski tallied the lone goal for Villanova in its first round matchup with Liberty.

Borkowski now leads the team in points and assists and is climbing the ranks across the BIG EAST. She now ranks third in the BIG EAST in points and is tied for second in goals in addition to being Top-five in both shots (44) and shots on goal (29).

Villanova will now turns its focus to the one-seeded UConn Huskies in the BIG EAST Tournament. The matchup will take place on Friday, November 6, at 1 p.m. from Howarth Field at Temple and will be streamed on ESPN+.
