Swimming and Diving Bound for BIG EAST Championship

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova Swimming and Diving travels to Ocala, Florida, this week for the BIG EAST Championships presented by Jeep. The four-day meet begins Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training.

At last year's championships, the women captured their 12th consecutive BIG EAST title and 17th overall. The men finished fourth for the third straight season. The women totaled 1,588 points, the highest mark in program history.

Head coach Rick Simpson and his staff of Laura McGlaughlin, Todd Michael, Keanan Dols and Aaron Green were named Coaching Staff of the Year for the 12th consecutive season.

Over four days of competition, the Wildcats won 23 medals-16 by the women and seven by the men-and set five school records. 23 team members earned All-BIG EAST honors for their performances. Anna Farley led the Wildcats with five All-BIG EAST selections.

Swimmers now have a direct path to qualify for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships through their conference championship meets. Any swimmer who wins their conference championship event and achieves the required qualifying time during that finals race will secure an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.

Preliminary events will be streamed live on YouTube, with finals airing on ESPN+.

On Wednesday, the women's 3-meter diving prelims are set for 1 p.m. The evening session begins at 5:45 p.m. and features the finals of the 200 Medley Relay, women's 3-meter dive, and 800 Free Relay.
