Jake Melchionni Named to USILA Team of the Week

Junior LSM earns his second career national team of the week honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- For the second time in his career, Villanova LSM Jake Melchionni has been named to the USILA Team of the Week as the junior was selected to this week's squad on Wednesday.

The honor follows up a game where Melchionni set a new career high in ground balls and led the contest in two different categories. The New Jersey native was also named to the list last season on April 14 following a seven-GB effort against St. John's.

The Delbarton product totaled a career-high nine ground balls in Saturday's bout at Rutgers, also causing three turnovers against the Scarlet Knights for a game-high in both categories. The junior is Villanova's team leader on the season in both GBs (16) and CTs (8), topping the BIG EAST in caused turnovers per game as well as ground balls per game among players with three or more games played.

Melchionni and the 'Cats have a two-game road swing ahead of them, traveling to Delaware on Saturday afternoon before a Tuesday visit to Philadelphia for a bout against RV Drexel.
