OMAHA, Neb. — The Villanova softball team is set to take on Creighton in a three-game BIG EAST series Friday to Sunday.
The 'Cats (6-22, 2-4 BIG EAST) are coming off their first shutout victory of the season after beating Saint Joseph's 8-0 in five innings Wednesday afternoon.
Villanova is 2-4 in BIG EAST play heading into the weekend, having been swept by Butler March 13-15. The final game of the series went 10 innings before the Bulldogs scored three in the top of the 10th to take away the win.
The Blue Jays (12-17, 4-2) have lost three in a row entering Friday, losing two of three to Providence before a midweek loss to Iowa State.
Last season, VU swept Creighton in Villanova March 14-16. The 'Cats have won the last four contests between the two programs.

Lexi Kobryn have led the Villanova offense to begin BIG EAST play, with both tied atop the team lead in RBIs at 18.
Maddie Burrows leads the 'Cats in batting average (.333) and hits (27).
Kat Gallant continues to lead the Villanova pitching staff with a 2-8 record and 5.40 ERA.
Carly Zych notably pitched a complete game, five-inning shutout midweek versus the Hawks for her second career win.
