Box Score OMAHA, Neb. — The Villanova softball team lost 11-10 to Creighton Saturday at the Creighton Sports Complex.

The 'Cats (6-23, 2-5 BIG EAST) led 10-8 heading into the bottom of the seventh and lost on a three-run walkoff home run. 

Maranda Runco went 2-5 at the plate with five RBIs. She now leads VU in RBIs with 23. 

Kat Gallant, who was scored a no-decision in the contest, started and pitched four innings, walking one, striking out two and giving up eight runs on nine hits. 

Villanova took an early lead in the top of the first on a Lilly St. Jean groundout that scored Maddie Burrows. The Blue Jays (13-17, 4-3) responded with two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. 

Creighton then proceeded to score four unanswered runs the next two innings to take a 6-1 lead going to the top of the fourth. 

Needing a big inning, VU got one in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs starting with a Burrows RBI single, which loaded the bases. Runco then cleared the bases with a two-run single, with the third run coming in on the throw home. 

Runco then scored on a wild pitch and errant throw, followed by a St. Jean sac-fly to give Villanova a 7-6 lead. 

Creighton once again responded, scoring twice to take an 8-7 lead. 

VU then added three more in the top of the fifth on a Runco three-run double to make it a 10-8 game, which was the score until the bottom of the seventh inning. 

After two batters reached for Creighton, the Blue Jays walked off the game in the bottom of the seventh on a three-run home run off Maggie King. 

King (L, 1-3) took the loss after pitching 2 1/3, giving up three earned runs on three hits. 

Villanova's 10 runs was the team's second highest offensive output in 2026.
