OMAHA, Neb. — The Villanova softball team lost 10-1 to Creighton Sunday at the Creighton Sports Complex.
The 'Cats (6-25, 2-7 BIG EAST) have now been swept in two consecutive BIG EAST series.
Kat Gallant (L, 2-9) started in the circle for VU, pitching an inning, walking two and giving up four runs on four hits.
Creighton (15-17, 7-2) struck first, scoring four in the bottom of the first.
Maggie King came on in relief in the second and pitched a scoreless second inning.
The 'Cats got one back in the top of the third on a
Maranda Runco single short that scored
Carly Zych from third to make it a 4-1 contest.
The Blue Jays responded with a run in the bottom of the third and scored another run in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 6-1 game heading into the fifth.
After a scoreless top of the fifth, Creighton scored four to put the game away in the bottom of the fifth.
King pitched 3 2/3, striking out one, walking four and giving up six runs on eight hits.
