STORRS, Conn. - Villanova women's lacrosse hits the road for a pair of BIG EAST matchups this week. The No. 24 Wildcats (8-3, 1-0 BIG EAST), ranked in the IL Media Poll for the first time in program history, will take on UConn on April 1 at 3 p.m., before traveling to Milwaukee to face Marquette on April 4 at 1 p.m ET.
The Wildcats are coming off of a 9-8 victory over No. 2 Stanford in its non-conference finale at Villanova Stadium, marking the program's first-ever win over a top-five opponent. The day also featured junior Emma Verhoest setting a new program record for career draw controls, reaching 384 after recording three in the contest.
On Saturday, UConn (3-7, 0-2 BIG EAST) dropped an 18-7 contest to Georgetown, while Marquette (7-4, 1-1 BIG EAST) is set to face Denver on the road Wednesday.
In the most recent meeting, the Wildcats earned a 16-10 victory over the Huskies on May 1, 2025 in the BIG EAST Semifinals, advancing to the conference title game for the first time in program history. Jillian Vaught led all scorers with three goals. Villanova trails 4-13 in the all-time series, which dates back to March 2001 when UConn secured a 10-7 win at Villanova Stadium.
Villanova holds a 7-5 edge in the all-time series against Marquette. Last season, the Wildcats picked up a 15-8 home win on April 6, with Katie Clark contributing four caused turnovers and Elena Torres leading the offense with four points, including two assists. The programs first met in 2013, when Villanova earned a 19-8 victory.
