NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference today announced the women's basketball major award winners and All-Conference honorees. For the second straight year, sophomore guard
Jasmine Bascoe was a unanimous first team All-League selection.
Two other Wildcats were also recognized for their efforts this season, as junior forward
Brynn McCurry earned second team All-BIG East accolades, in addition to being the league's Most Improved Player and freshman guard
Kennedy Henry was named to both the All-Freshman Team and All-Defensive Team.
Bascoe led the BIG EAST in scoring (18.7 ppg.) and assists (146 for 5.0 apg.) this past season in helping Villanova to a 23-6 overall record, a 16-4 league mark and a second place finish in the conference standings. Bascoe had 13, 20-point games to her credit this season and now has 21 for her career.
McCurry ranks second on the team in both scoring at 10.9 points per game and rebounding at 5.5 per contest. She reached double figures in points in 17 contests this year, including four games of 20 points or more. After averaging 2.7 points per game as a freshman in 2023-24, McCurry missed all of last season with an injury, before returning this year to rank second on the team in scoring.
Henry has started all 27 games that she has played in and is averaging 9.4 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per contest. She leads the team in steals with 66 and is second in blocks with 24. She is also third in assists with 76. The 66 steals currently rank her fifth in the BIG EAST. With one more steal, Henry will break the Villanova freshman record for steals by a freshman.
Villanova is the two-seed in this week's BIG EAST Tournament and will play the winner of the Providence/DePaul game on Saturday at 7 p.m., in the quarterfinal round.
