PISCATAWAY, N.J.—The fast heat of the 800 meters at the Rutgers Relays produced a 1-2-3-4 sweep for Villanova on a successful day overall which saw the Wildcats post season and personal best marks in seven different events. Sophomore middle distance runner
Bella Walsh (Wilmington, Del.) had one of those PRs to win the 800 meters, while first year throwers
Jess Bentum (Deptford, N.J.) and
Hallie Kees (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) recorded top 10 marks on the Wildcats all-time performance lists in the hammer and the javelin, respectively.
Walsh paced the field in the 800 meters with a time of 2:06.27 and finished just over three seconds in front of first year teammate
Sophia McInnes (Bayport, N.Y.) who was the runner-up with a time of 2:09.68. McInnes and junior
Caelen O'Leary (Taunton, Mass.) each tallied their top times of the season, with O'Leary crossing the line in 2:10.17 and first year collegian
Gabby Pistner (St. Marys, Pa.) following in fourth place in the heat with a time of 2:13.35. In a later heat, junior
Therese Trainer (Havertown, Pa.) recorded a season best time of 2:14.61.
Villanova had similarly strong results in the 1500 meters with three of the top five overall finishers. Freshman
Maeve Smith (Ocean City, N.J.) was second in 4:33.42 while classmate
Cecilia Montagnese (Leetsdale, Pa.) recorded a personal best time of 4:37.44 in third place and senior
Kinsey Pogue (Danville, Calif.) had a season best time of 4:46.12 in fifth. The other season best time to come out of the track events on Saturday was in the 100 meters where junior
Lore Olakunle (Elkridge, Md.) lowered her 2026 mark to 12.65.
Bentum became the Wildcats third freshman this season to tally a top 10 mark on the program's all-time performance list in the hammer. She threw 49.12 meters in Saturday's competition to finish third out of 30 competitors and move into No. 8 in school history in the event. She had the best result of the day out of herself and first year classmates
Jane Carey (Webster, N.Y.) and
Kiera Christensen (Alexandria, Minn.) who had tallied top 10 marks earlier in the season. Villanova's all-time list in the hammer currently has Bentum at No. 8, Christensen at No. 9 (49.07m) and Carey at No. 11 (47.79m).
Kees finished sixth in the javelin and surpassed 40 meters for the first time in her career. Her mark for the day was 40.93 meters and puts her into eighth place in school history with the current javelin implement which was introduced in 1999.
