STORRS, Conn. — The Villanova softball team is set to take on UConn at the Burrill Family Field in Storrs, Connecticut Friday and Saturday.
Originally set for a Thursday to Saturday series, weather in the greater northeast area forced a schedule change. A doubleheader Friday at 3 and 5:30 p.m. will lead to the final game of the series Saturday at 4 p.m.
The 'Cats (8-27, 4-8 BIG EAST) are coming off a series win over Georgetown and sit in sixth place in the BIG EAST.
Maranda Runco has been stellar in conference play, slashing .412/.941/.615 with five home runs and 16 RBIs. Runco overall has slashed .292/.629/.492.

Grace Reed has found her groove at the plate, hitting two home runs and seven RBIs. Her second home run was a walkoff two-run home against Georgetown March 27.
Heading into the weekend, Villanova is 19-51 all-time against the Huskies (13-22, 6-3), but have won five of the last eight games between the two dating back to May 12, 2023.
UConn enters the weekend having won three consecutive after a sweep of DePaul March 27-29.
