Perkins, Brennan Among Men's Big Five Award Winners

Annual awards were announced today

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Tyler Perkins and Duke Brennan were both named first team All-Philadelphia Big Five in the annual awards announced Monday.

Saint Joseph's guard Derek Simpson was tabbed as the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Year, while Villanova's Acaden Lewis was named the Rookie of the Year, and Saint Joseph's head coach Steve Donahue was chosen as the Philadelphia Big 5 Coach of the Year. 

The other major award winners on the men's side include Aiden Tobiason from Temple as the Most Improved Player and Justice Ajogbor from Saint Joseph's who garnered Big 5 Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades for the second straight year.
Simpson was joined on the All-Big 5 first team by the Villanova duo of Perkins and Brennan,  Drexel's Shane Blakeney, Penn's TJ Power along with Derrian Ford, from Temple.

The All-Big 5 second team featured Villanova teammates Bryce Lindsay and the aforementioned Lewis, Jaden Glover-Toscano from Saint Joseph's, La Salle's Rob Dockery, Penn's Ethan Roberts and Tobiason from Temple.
Ford was recognized as the Big 5 leading scorer averaging 18.1 points per game, while Simpson shot 91.7 percent (99-108) from the foul line and was the Big 5 leading free throw shooter.
