VILLANOVA, Pa. – The first regatta of the spring has arrived for Villanova Rowing as the Wildcats head up to Leonia, N.J. for the Ram Invitational on Saturday.

The Wildcats' spring to this point has been marked by a trio of scrimmages over the last month.

"We are excited about this weekend to open our spring season," head coach Carissa Adams said. "The team has put in some intense training this week both physically and mentally, and they handled it like champs," head coach Carissa Adams said. "I am proud of the strides we have made across all boats.  Every athlete should be proud of the improvements they have seen on the water.

"Tomorrow will be a great way to illustrate the commitment these athletes have made towards our end of season goals."

Villanova is one of four teams competing at the event hosted by Fordham with Sacred Heart and Rhode Island also in the field. Racing is set to begin at 11 a.m. with morning head-to-heads that will pave the way for afternoon races that start at 1 p.m. The results from those earlier races will determine placements for the afternoon where the 'Cats will

The 'Cats will send five shells onto the water at Overpeck Park, three fours and a pair of eights. They are set to race with the following lineups:
