Wildcats Sign Guard Darryl "Buddy" Simmons II

Detroit native averaged 16.4 points per game last season at St. Bonaventure

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Guard Darryl Simmons II, who finished third in the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring in 2025-26, has signed an aid agreement to attend Villanova for his senior season. Simmons played last season at St. Bonaventure, where he averaged 16.4 points per game and connected on .425 of his attempts from beyond the 3-point arc.

Prior to that, Simmons, nicknamed "Buddy", a native of Detroit, played two seasons at Gardner-Webb. In 2024-25 he was named second team All-Big South averaging 17.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per outing.

"Buddy is an experienced college guard who can score at all three levels," said Villanova head coach Kevin Willard. "His ability to stretch the defense as a 3-point threat will make an immediate impact on our team. We're excited to welcome another gifted guard to Villanova."

Simmons played prep basketball at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut, helping to lead his team to a 77-3 record in his time there. He was listed as one of the top 25 players in New England in 2023.
