SPARKS, Md. -- The laundry list of accolades for Villanova men's lacrosse player
Jake Melchionni grew even larger on Thursday afternoon as the New Jersey native was selected as the Third Team LSM on the USA Lacrosse All-America list.
The junior is one of less than 100 players across the country who earned recognition, ranked as the third best LSM in the nation.
The accolade comes after a year where Melchionni also earned BIG EAST Specialist of the Year, a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team honor and a mention on the Tewaaraton Award watch list in addition to weekly laurels for five separate outings.
The Delbarton product tallied a team-best in caused turnovers (32) and ground balls (67), ranking sixth in the nation for CTs per game.
Melchionni is just the eighth Wildcat ever to earn USA Lacrosse AA honors, and is also the eighth Villanova lacrosse player with multiple years of All-America nods in a career.
