NEW YORK – The 2026 conference regular season awards featured a lot of Villanova as six different Wildcats were named to All-BIG EAST teams.
Villanova's accolades were highlighted by Jake Melchionni, who earned Specialist of the Year and a unanimous First Team nod. David Evanchick and Luke Raymond joined Melchionni on the First Team while George Glomb, Nick Lucchesi and Colin Michener were all selected for the Second Team.
It's the 16th straight year that the Wildcats have had multiple players earn postseason awards from the BIG EAST, and the 'Cats had the second most representatives on this year's list.
Melchionni picked up top specialist and his second career first team honor after leading the conference in caused turnovers (2.46 per game) and coming second in ground balls per outing (4.77, only non-FOGO in top five). VU's top LSM caused multiple turnovers in 10 different games this year and scooped up five or more ground balls on seven occasions in his junior campaign.
Evanchick earned First Team for his first ever BIG EAST yearly accolade after a lockdown season on the defensive end, often earning the top cover assignment in his senior campaign. The Connecticut native tied a career-high 14 caused turnovers this year in addition to 27 GBs, also scoring his first collegiate goal.
Raymond also picked up First Team honors for his lone season accolade from the conference following a dominant season where he bumped down to attack after four years in the midfield. The graduate student led the team with 42 points on a team-best 32 goals, totaling seven different hat tricks this year with a season-best five assists at Marquette.
Glomb was a Second Team selection after a breakout season, being the only faceoff specialist on this year's accolades. The junior won double digit faceoffs in every single BIG EAST contest this season, including 17 wins against both St. John's and Marquette. The Wyndmoor native won the faceoff battle in each league outing, pacing the conference in faceoff percentage (.573).
Lucchesi was named a Second Team midfielder after an impressive campaign, putting forth 13 goals and nine assists with a goal in all five league games. It's the first honor of the junior's career, which comes after a season where he totaled six multi-point performances and sent Villanova into the postseason with a game-winning goal at Marquette.
For the third straight year, Michener is a member of the All-BIG EAST Second Team as the seventh Wildcat ever to earn three or more yearly accolades from the BIG EAST. The senior scored 24 goals this year for second on the team, including a seven-goal outing at Marquette to earn USILA Team of the Week.
These six and the rest of the Wildcats will take part in a postseason bout this week, facing the Providence Friars in the BIG EAST Semifinals on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from Chapey Field.
