Wildcats Welcome Kyle Tarp to Villanova

Will serve as Sports Performance Coach for Men's Basketball

VILLANOVA, Pa. – William B. Finneran Endowed Head Coach Kevin Willard today announced the addition of Kyle Tarp to the Villanova staff as its Sports Performance Coach (Men's Basketball). Tarp served in a similar capacity at the University of Maryland from 2010-25, the last three seasons as part of Willard's staff.
 
"It's great to bring Kyle on board here at Villanova," said Willard. "He is an elite performance coach whose knowledge and experience will benefit our players' development."
 
Tarp's tenure at Maryland included 7 NCAA Tournament appearances in his final 10 seasons, including the 2024-25 campaign which saw the Terrapins record 27 victories and advance to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. He was also a part of Maryland's 2020 Big Ten championship squad. During his run at Maryland Tarp worked with a lengthy list of players who went on to the National Basketball Association, including Derik Queen, Kevin Huerter, Bruno Fernando, Alex Len, Jalen Smith and Aaron Wiggins.
 
A native of Salinas, Cal., Tarp and his wife Rachel are the parents of daughter, Avery, and son, Trenton.
 
Returning for a second season on Willard's Villanova staff in 2026-27 are assistant coaches David Cox, Kevin Norris, Ashley Howard, Greg Manning Jr. and Ricky Harris along with director of player personnel Brenton Petty, director of program operations Charlie Butler, special assistant to the head coach Nick DePersia, head athletic trainer Dan Erickson, and former Wildcat JayVaughn Pinkston (student athlete development).
