GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Villanova guard
Jasmine Bascoe is one of 12 players on Canada's Senior Women's National Team, as announced by Canada Basketball on Monday.
The Milton, Ontario native trained with the team during its training camp over the summer in both Montreal and Victora in June and July, respectively. She joins the team for action at the FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2026 in Guadalajara, Mexico, from Aug. 17-23. The tournament serves as the opening stage of the Road to LA 2028, with the winner earning a spot in the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in March 2028.
Canada is slated to play three games in the tournament against its Group B counterparts starting with Senegal on August 17 at 7:30 p.m. The team then moves on to play the Philippines at 7:30 p.m. on August 19 and Mexico on August 20 at 10:30 p.m. The top two teams from Group A (Argentia, Brazil, New Zealand and South Sudan) and Group B will advance to the semifinals scheduled for August 22. The semifinal winner will meet in the final on August 23 with the winner claiming the lone berth to the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2028.
