VILLANOVA, Pa. — The Villanova softball team announces the addition of Billie Kerwood as an assistant coach as well as a pitching coach on head coach Bridget Orchard's staff. 

"We're excited to welcome Billie to our coaching staff and to have her bring her competitive fire to our program," commented Orchard. "She brings a wealth of playing experience and a deep understanding of pitching development. Her relentless work ethic and genuine passion for mentoring student-athletes will be invaluable. Our program will benefit tremendously from her experience, energy, and competitive mind."

Kerwood joined the Wildcats after finishing her collegiate career where she spent three seasons with Monmouth, before her senior year with Delaware, where she broke the single-season record for wins (23), strikeouts (250) and tied the single-game strikeouts against a conference opponent record with 15.

In her senior season with the Blue Hens, she posted a 23-10 record in 194 innings while collecting a 1.59 ERA, 13 complete games, four shutouts and a no-hitter against Hampton. 

The record-breaking season led to Kerwood being named the 2025 CAA and ECAC Pitcher of the Year as well as being selected to NFCA East Region First Team, 2025 All-CAA First Team and All-ECAC. 

Additionally, she climbed the national ranks after being ranked No. 24 in D1Softball's Top 100 Mid-Major Player rankings and being ranked No. 97 in the Top 100 Players in the Country.

Kerwood will bring her experience to a pitching staff that sees four returning pitchers in Maggie King, Miranda Runco, Lexi Kobryn and Carly Zych along with the addition of two new freshmen in Riley Bobrowski and Felicia Connolly.
