NEW YORK — Villanova field hockey collected two weekly awards from the BIG EAST this week following the team's 4-1 win over Temple. Forward Ava Borkowski and Back Molly Zimmerman were both selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Team, the conference announced on Tuesday. 

Zimmerman and Borkowski mark the 20th pair of Wildcats in program history to be selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Team in the same week. The most recent pair was Borkowski and Gemma Lysaght last season on October 7. 

The nomination marks the second selection to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this season for Borkowski while it is her third overall in her career. She was named to the Honor Roll earlier this year following her eight-point performance against Queens University of Charlotte and the team's 2-0 win over Lehigh. As for Zimmerman, this marks her first career selection to the BIG EAST Honor Roll as well as her first individual weekly award nomination. 

Borkowski continued to be a spark offensively for Villanova to help get the win over Temple. In the action with the Owls, the graduate student tallied a goal and two points. Borkowski got the action started with a goal just two minutes into the contest to get the Wildcats' offense rolling en route to the 4-1 win. Borkowski pushed her season total to nine goals and 20 points, which ranks her tied for the most goals in the BIG EAST and second in the BIG EAST in total points

As for Zimmerman, she had a career day in VU's 4-1 win over Temple. The junior tallied her first career goal and set a new career-high in points with three. With the game tied 1-1, Zimmerman helped to set up Katharina Balks for her goal to put the 'Cats back in front. She then helped VU add to its lead with a goal in the third to push the score to 3-1. The goal by Zimmerman marked the first of her career while her assist marked the seventh on the year. She currently ranks second in the BIG EAST in assists.

Both Borkowski and Zimmerman along with the entire Villanova hockey team will continue BIG EAST play as the team hosts Georgetown on Friday, October 2 at 12 p.m followed by a road contest with Penn on Sunday, October 4 also at 12 p.m..
