Personal: Born 12/13/99 in Malvern, Pa. … Older of two children of William and Maureen Kingsbury … Both parents, along with two uncles, are former Villanova student-athletes … Father was a pitcher for the baseball team and was a two-time draft pick (1991, 1992) of the Oakland Athletics … Mother played softball for the Wildcats from 1989-91 … Two uncles, Scott (1986-90) and Russ (1991-95) were running backs on the Villanova football team … Chose to attend Villanova because of his family’s tradition at the school, as well as for the university’s strong academic reputation … Communication major in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Villanova Career: Four-year standout on the mound who pitched for the Wildcats from 2018-21 … His collegiate career culminated with him being a 17
th round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft … Durable right-handed pitcher who had success mixing a slider with an elite spin rate with a plus fastball … As a collegiate pitcher aggressively attacked batters and threw all of his pitches for strikes regardless of the count … Ended his collegiate career with 12 wins and five saves in 52 appearances, including 34 starts … As of the end of the 2021 season was tied for seventh in school history with 216 career strikeouts and ranked eighth with a 1.328 career WHIP … His WHIP is the lowest of any pitcher who threw 200+ career innings for the Wildcats … One of 10 pitcher in program history to face at least 1,000 batters (1,045) during his career … Ranked 11

th in games started … During his sophomore year in 2019 he pitched a one-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over La Salle … It was the seventh one-hitter in school history at the time of the game and the second thrown by a member of his own family … His father, Larry, was part of a combined one-hitter of Georgetown in 1992 during his own Villanova career … All told, the younger Kingsbury pitched in 52 games with 34 starts, two complete games and the one shutout for the Wildcats … In his 238 2/3 innings pitched, he allowed 228 hits and 138 runs (124 earned) while issuing 89 walks and striking out 216 batters … Opponents batted .251 against him and he gave up only 18 home runs to 1,045 batters faced … Off the field was a three-time selection to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and a two-time member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

2021: Took a step forward during his final collegiate season and had success as a swingman between the weekend starting rotation and pitching in the late innings out of the bullpen … Following the season was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 17
th round of the Major League Baseball Draft … Tied for the pitching staff lead with 86 strikeouts while working 64 2/3 innings on the year … His strikeout ratio of 11.97 strikeouts per nine innings is the fifth-highest single season mark in school history, while the 86 punchouts are tied for ninth in the Villanova single season record book … Pitched in 16 of the 35 games the Wildcats played during the year, including nine starts and seven relief appearances … Held opponents to a .230 batting average against him and gave up only three home runs to 277 batters faced … Allowed 55 hits and 37 runs (35 earned) while issuing 28 walks … Finished the year with a 5-4 record, four saves and a 4.87 ERA … Had three starts with 10+ strikeouts, including a career-high 13 K’s in a three-hitter for a 3-2 win against Penn … That start came on March 27 when he gave up just one earned run in a nine-inning complete game, and he was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week the following week … Allowed two earned runs or fewer in five of his first six starts and had a 3.22 ERA while going 4-1 in those six outings … Beginning on May 1 against Xavier, his final seven appearances of the year from May 1-22 came out of the bullpen … In those seven outings he pitched 15.0 innings and allowed just eight hits compared to 21 strikeouts … He recorded saves in four straight appearances from May 2-14 and was the winning pitcher after tossing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts against St. John’s on the final weekend of the regular season … Was unscored on in his final 8 2/3 innings of the year.
