UNITAS: Overview
Consistent with Villanova’s Augustinian mission and values, UNITAS is a framework to build a welcoming and supportive athletic department through constructive dialogs, educational programming, and community engagement. Villanova’s student-athletes, coaches, and staff come from a variety of backgrounds and have diverse perspectives and passionate viewpoints on a range of issues. Through UNITAS, Villanova Athletics is committed to fostering an inclusive, anti-bigotry environment where every member of our community has a voice, and feels respected, valued, and safe.
UNITAS: Goals
- Provide student-athletes with safe spaces, forums, educational programs, and community outreach opportunities race, gender, personal identity, mental health, and more
- Ensure dialogues find common ground, build mutual understanding, and strengthen the Villanova athletics community
- Encourage student-athletes' involvement to make UNITAS a success
- Allow student-athletes to form their own groups and develop leadership and management skills
- Make Villanova anti-racist and anti-hate by fostering inclusiveness
