Collegiate Career: Came to Villanova as a graduate transfer from Duke and was a member of the Wildcats active roster for the 2020 and 2021 seasons … Strong right-handed pitcher who overcame injuries to pitch in games for both the Blue Devils and the Wildcats … Made three appearances in all, including appearing in games against Purdue and Saint Louis for Villanova during the 2020 season … Named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in 2020-21 and was a three-time member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll … Previously a two-time selection to the ACC Academic Honor Roll at Duke.

2020: Made relief appearances against Purdue and Saint Louis … Pitched a scoreless inning with a walk and a strikeout in the Saint Louis game … Was charged with three walks and three earned runs on the season.

Personal: Born 4/2/98 in Monroe, Conn. … Youngest of three children of Andy and Bev Kovachik … Has two older siblings, Andrew and Kelsey … Grandfather, Al Kovachik, played college basketball at Brown … Enjoys playing basketball and working out in his spare time … Graduated from Duke in 3.5 years with a degree in Political Science and a certificate in Markets and Management Studies … Enrolled as a graduate student in the Villanova School of Business and is pursuing an MBA in Data & Analytics … Chose to come to Villanova for graduate school for its combination of academics and athletics, as well as his trust in the program and the future of Villanova baseball.
