Mitchell Bennett

Mitchell Bennett joins the Wildcats in 2019 as a volunteer assistant. Bennett is a graduate of the University of Tampa with a B.S. in Sport Management and received his master’s degree in professional sports operations from NYU.

Bennett will serve as the outfield coordinator and first base coach for Villanova, as well as assist with hitting and defense.

Bennett played at Tampa where he was a career-.300 switch-hitter, a trait that will be valuable for coaching with perspective from both sides of the plate. He played shortstop and helped lead the program to the 2015 NCAA Division II National Championship.

Bennett has no shortage of Major League experience. He has served in the New York Mets front office, where he was involved in the acquisition of Joe Panik, as well as worked for the New York Yankees as a defensive assistant in the minor league ranks.

He has also served as an amateur scout for the San Francisco Giants organization and worked in baseball operations in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.

Bennett also brings coaching experience having served as the hitting and defensive coach for the Quakertown Blazers of the ACBL. He coached several current Villanova players on that team, and helped lead them to the 2018 ACBL Championship Title.
